Over the years, Duncan has worked on paintings from the 16th century to the present, with particular interest in the major schools of the Dutch / Flemish 17th century, English 18th century Portraits and the French 19th century Barbizon and Impressionist schools, leading to 20th century Moderns.

This practical experience, teaches the restorer a unique understanding of classical and traditional painting techniques and methods. These are essential tools in the pursuit of restoring paintings back to the beauty and quality that the artist originally intended.

In order to develop these refined skills, the restorer requires a natural feeling for the arts.

Duncan Hulme Fine Art Conservation places the emphasis upon sensitivity, originality and control.
