By the beginning of July there were 600 effectives of the 41st Regiment at Fort Niagara with 1,500 from 1st Royal Scots and the 100th Regiment garrisoning various posts along the shore, supported by a detachment of 19th Light Dragoons, two troops of Provincial Light Dragoons, the flank companies of the Lincoln militia and a dwindling company of militia artillery.

Out of some 900 men that Scott brought to the field, barely 100 were still in formation.
